Preseason Power Pulse — Month 1 Rankings

1. Shoreline Sluggers
Record: 0-0
Previous Ranking: 1
The Shoreline Sluggers haven’t played a game with their full lineup yet. Either Shane Vernon or Bryan Peña — and in one case, both — have been missing. And yet, it hasn’t really mattered. The Sluggers’ offense has looked just fine.
Vernon remains the anchor when he’s in the lineup, Peña looks healthy after last year’s shoulder injury, and Joseph Tarallo has been a steady presence at the plate. Rookie Andrew Parent has brought energy and promise. Even without their full roster, the Sluggers have already shown just how deep — and dangerous — they can be.
2. Worcester Ironclads
Record: 0-0
Previous Ranking: 2
The Worcester Ironclads are still figuring out their identity — but they’ve already got the pieces to be a problem.
Daniel LeTendre looks like he’s entering his prime and could be an all-star by midseason or even sooner. Mike Watson Jr. is back after years away from the game, and the big question is whether he can still flash the same form that made him a force in his NEAAD days. Adam Skwersky brings veteran presence and a sharp eye at the plate, while Joey Mattiace, known for his heart and hustle, may finally be on the verge of a breakout year. If everything clicks, the Ironclads won’t just be tough — they’ll be trouble.

3. Western Mass Rivermen
Record: 0-0
Previous Ranking: 3
The Western Mass Rivermen come into the season with questions — but also with just enough firepower to answer them.
Humberto Ramos and Joey Savarese have the tools to carry this team if they can stay consistent. Whether they become the go-to guys remains to be seen. Bruce Beston brings veteran poise to the mound and a unique offensive edge — a right-handed hitter who loves going the other way and lives in right field territory. If the chemistry builds early, the Rivermen could turn into one of the league’s toughest outs.
4. Northern Reign
Record: 0-0
Previous Ranking: 4
The Northern Reign might be the most intriguing team in the league — and a lot of that starts with the outfield.
D.J. Travaglini patrols center like he was born there. Arguably the best outfielder in New England, his game draws real comparisons to Ken Griffey Jr. — smooth, fast, and fearless. Danny Chorlton looks like he lived in the gym all off-season and now brings serious muscle to the middle of the lineup. And then there’s Jamie Moore — a rookie, new to softball, borrowing a glove and bat from his dad, and coming in from the world of mountain biking. It’s a wild mix, but if it clicks, the Reign could sneak up on everybody.

5. Eastern Mass Mariners
Record: 0-0
Previous Ranking: 5
The Eastern Mass Mariners have their anchor — and it’s a strong one.
Two-time NEAAD champion and Gold Glove MVP Chris Marchese is back and ready to dominate, bringing leadership, range, and power to a team looking to make noise. Around him, the Mariners have steady, dependable pieces in Ryan Whittemore, Cory Devaney, and Ivan Lenarcic — all solid players who know their roles and get the job done. They might not be flashy, but if they stay locked in, Eastern Mass could quietly become one of the most disciplined and dangerous squads in the league.
6. Hartford Havoc
Record: 0-0
Previous Ranking: 6
The Hartford Havoc might be the league’s wild card — unpredictable, aggressive, and full of raw talent.
Eggy Rivera brings serious power to the lineup, with the kind of swing that can change a game in one pitch. Robert Bibisi remains one of the more intriguing players in the league — athletic, unorthodox, and capable of surprising anyone. And Jorge Ortega rounds out the core as a proven, high-level contributor who can impact the game on both sides of the ball. If the Havoc find their rhythm early, they could be the team nobody wants to face in a must-win game.

How It Works: Power rankings are updated based on team performance, run differentials, winning streaks, player impact, and overall team momentum. Social buzz, fan talk, and hype don’t guarantee a spot — but they sure don’t hurt.
